Lewis and Clark Homecoming Celebration

Locust Grove - Louisville, KY

On November 5, 2006, re-enactors portraying explorers Meriwether Lewis and William Clark, with members of the Corps of Discovery, arrived at Locust Grove in Louisville on their way from the Pacific Ocean to Jefferson's Monticello in Virginia. At Locust Grove, Lucy Clark Croghan and her family, including older brothers Jonathan and George Rogers Clark, welcomed their younger brother William, Capt. Lewis, and York.  Locust Grove is the only existing residence west of the Appalachians to have sheltered Lewis and Clark.

It was a glorious day, with 15-star flags flying, fifers and bagpipers announcing the arrival, and re-enactors portraying all the residents of the farm and neighborhood.
